Jämtlandsdrall (a.k.a. crackle) has a special place in my heart as it is woven in Sweden, and gives a beautiful clean look when woven in this particular way. The four different examples given here on the same warp each have their own special feature. I introduce two different methods for adapting a profile to this structure, and discuss in detail why one method (less common in this country) has such a clean and pleasing look on the edges of the motif. Another issue we look at in detail is how the choice of plain weave treadle used between pattern shots can make a difference in the appearance of the pattern. There is a lot of theory material here to delve into.
