While observing Becky tying up the countermarch loom, she checks the threads to see if they pass through the middle of the heddles. She states that the threads are too high. However, when the camera zooms in to examine their position, it appears that the threads are actually too low in the holes. Subsequently, she goes to the top of the countermarch and lifts the shafts by one hole. So, were the threads too high or too low?
Hello Tricia,
Congratulations!
At 1:10:46 I say that the "shafts are a bit high". This is a correct statement because the threads are going through the bottom of the heddle eye. The shafts need to be lowered just a little bit for the threads to be going through the middle of the eye. However, I think you have detected an incorrect edit, because I say I am going to "go down one hole" when I am up at the top of the countermarch. I see that there is a cut in the footage, and I to say "I'm going to button up on the next hole". I should have eliminated my first quote that has the word "down" in it, and just kept the next quote and added a banner saying "the next hole up". This would have been a tricky edit for me to notice, but I should have noticed it, because I start to go the wrong direction on the cord (tightening the cord (going down one hole)), would indeed raise the shaft which is already too high, and then I see that I realized I made a mistake and restarted my action, but then did not cut out the mistake later during editing.
If only you knew how many "miss-speaking's" that I did take out!
Thank you so much for catching this!!
This would technically be fixable, and probably worth the time and expense when I can get to it,
B
Hi Becky,
Thank you so much for your detailed response. It meant the world to me. I often struggle with fixing warp threads that are either too high or too low in the shed. However, your corrections have helped me immensely in understanding how to adjust the shafts when the warp threads are too low. I wish I had the opportunity to see you fix more sheds with warp threads that are either too high or too low, as that would be beneficial for my learning. Oh, I think I do know how many miss-speakings you had to take out. When I do presentations, I hear all of my "miss-speakings".
