I am glad that you are getting something out of my video class!
I mostly do not use patterns for sewing, skirts are rectangles, and bodices are rectangles with armholes and neck holes cut out and a little angle under the arm, and maybe some darts. Sometimes I lay out piece of clothing that fits me onto my handwoven fabric and use that as a cutting guide.
Not sure if you have heard of Daryl Lancaster, but she is a weaver and specializes in sewing garments and teaching people to sew garments out of handwoven materials.
